The project reinterprets the existing school through a careful transformation of its spatial organisation, creating a more centralised and flexible learning environment while preserving the building’s established entrances, connections, and views. The relocation of the vertical circulation to the eastern side frees a central communal space, conceived as a shared hub for learning, recreation, play, and informal activities, around which the classrooms are reorganised. The extension develops through two distinct interventions: two pitched-roof volumes on the upper level, following the geometry and orientations of the existing building, and a low southern volume that preserves the views and natural light of the existing classrooms while providing a new outdoor recreation area on its roof. The architectural language draws from the existing building’s characteristic angled cuts, reinterpreted as sloping façades and recessed loggias that mediate between inside and outside. Larch timber defines these sheltered spaces, while warm grey plaster façades distinguish the new additions through subtle variations in texture.
