The pre-existing Spruggio “Giovanni Tonini” mountain hut, formerly known as Malga Spruggio Alta, was shaped over time by a succession of interventions that gradually transformed it, until its destruction in the fire of 2016. From its origins, the building displayed features typical of local mountain architecture, such as pitched roofs with generous overhangs and the use of local materials including natural stone and larch wood. The proposed project arises from a reinterpretation of the existing structures, considering their formal, typological, and constructive qualities, as well as their relationship with the surrounding landscape—both natural and built—while deliberately avoiding direct imitation or literal repetition of the former building.
