The reuse of Cascina Lossano (Pavia, Italy) as a residential complex includes 8 new apartments (68 to 180 m²), located in the three main original buildings: The manor ’s and farmer’s house, the porch and the stables. The aim is to emphasize the main entrance axis as a green spine that crosses the whole plot, breaking through the porch and opening up to embrace the beautiful landscape of the fields. On the same axis is located an outdoor pool, surrounded by common terraces. The central part of the porch becomes a shared space where many private and public functions can take place, such as co-working, cinema, book presentations, etc. The porch is extruded on both ends to include two duplex apartments, where a semi-closed brick wall with a central sliding window creates a soft lighting of the interior, while preserving privacy.
